Open Source Economy

I wrote that in the email I sent to Palbee. It was something that came up and I don't know if anyone else has used the term before or not but I think it's a good name for what we are doing.

Not that we have to stop using Resource Based Economy yet but just in case they manage to copyright it we can use the new one.

What are your opinions?

Not so much the matter of the label as rather what the essence of it delivers.

I agree about labeling. But I have said before that if we don't label it then someone else will and we may not like the label they give it. So to protect the overall idea wouldn't it make sense to give it a proper name?

Hopefully in the future when the monetary system is gone we won't have to worry about things like this.

Sounds good for the technological aspect but seems to loose the zing of energy and food recourses. Maybe open resource sounds closer?

Yeah even though I don't care too much about what we call it, others may see Open Source Economy as something based out of a Linux idealism or something. Open Resource Economy sounds good to me.

In regards to "Open Source Economy", I also agree that an "Open Resource Economy" sounds more proper, however I do not think Atlas Initiative Group should worry about the copyrighting of the RBE term as TVP has much resistance regarding the copyrighting of the term, plus you guys got RBEF behind you... not to say RBEF is some superhero but we do have quite a bit of members that are getting active.

I'm in agreement with Josh here. There's just no way that Venus Project can trademark Resource Based Economy. That'd be like some one trying to trademark the monetary system, or socialism, or capitalism. It is an economic term, not something that can be trademarked. I'm all for Open Resource Economy, but I really think in the mean time, the resource based economy is what defines us. What others label us, honestly, who cares. We know what we are and we are following the essence of what the RBE is. If others can't see that, they can either research further or move on. But I too see us being RBE and I don't see that term being trademarked anytime soon. It can't be done.
