Nikola Tesla's "Tesla Coil" is the answer to our energy problem. We can have one central Tesla Coil in the city and that will eliminate all electrical wiring needed with the exception of on/off switches in the entire city. You would never have to plug anything in, they would just work. You can drive and electric car and never have to charge it unless you left the operational vicinity of the coil. We could eventually power the entire planet this way. Everything would operate on electricity. We could use zero point energy motors to power the coil so there would be ZERO pollution. ZERO!!!! It would be so low maintenance that it would operate for dozens of years without even having to be checked.

We would have to invent new ways of turning things off rather than on. We would be able to use the coil to transmit data as well so we can get rid of cellular towers and ditch old cell technology.

We could do things that are unimaginable with our current tech. You wouldn't need batteries anymore power outages would be a thing of the past. Lightening striking the tower would add to our energy pool rather than cause it to stop working. The only thing that I could see being a problem is if the tower isn't shielded from rain.

This will be a great advantage eventually. Now, will we be able to create such a device in time? I don't think it's impossible (any technology though of as impossible and ridiculous at some point is now common place to us), but since we haven't created it yet it may take too long to design and implement it. What happened with the rodin coil you were so excited about? That we have actually seen in action.

That Rodin coil is new technology that is completely untested and unknown. The Tesla coil is already proven to work and we know how to build it and make it work, it was just forgotten in time. There are many working models already built.

Tesla was a marvel genius and he is in my opinion the most important inventor in history. He gave us AC power and he holds around 200 patents for many of the things we take for granted. He invented the electric motor. The phos-florescent lightbulb is based off of his vacuum tube. He invented everything that was needed to create the first telegraph.

His inventions are still in use today is so many of our devices, it's a shame most people haven't a clue who he is. He discovered wireless communication but since everyone thought he was a mad scientist, his inventions were so far ahead of their time that many are just now being rediscovered.

My point is that he already paved the way for us, all we have to do is walk the path. I have a union brother that is interested in helping me build my idea, a tesla coil coupled with a permanent magnet generator.

The Rodin coil will have it's time, I believe that technology is the second evolution in the permanent magnet motor and zero point energy.

If we dont have to have wires built into a structure it will make building a building so much easier and faster. The walls wont have to be hallow. They can be made from clay or whatever is best for building walls and can be made easily by a robot.

I've heard of and admired Tesla for a long time. I'd like to see more steady information on working coils, this is news to me. I was under the impression most of it was still theoretical.

Wow, I surprised so much of this has gone the way of forgotten respect. I knew he was brilliant, but some of that I didn't realize. Brings up an interesting technology I read about recently. It's on the basis of a tesla coil, but converts signals (mostly solar from orbiting satellites) into radio waves which travel farther and easier. Then the receiver on Earth converts them back to electrical waves. These are interesting ideas, if we can make them work. What are some possible problems with this system?

That is a legit question that I do not know the answer to. Its something that has to be tested.

I suppose if we have those little power pads that wirelessly charge your phone and ipod then it's not a far stretch to assume possible implications for this in the city. Of course, it may present many problems so a backup plan will still need to be made.

I would go with off the shelf tried and tested technology for now (The kind you can get from your local hardware store.), but have lab space so this and other solutions can be developed and tested, but not to rely on it for our initial community construction.

If we are careful about our initial design, we can always retrofit later on if need be, eg. conduits/jeffory tubes/surface mounted, rather than burying cables in walls/ground that you later on might want to replace!

And yes I am of Tesla stuff too, but I'm also practical minded.

Okay, but you are missing the downsides to having that much radiation always bouncing around, including cancer, having to seal our computers inside of megnetic boxes or get the memory wiped, not being able to carry
a video tape into the city limits without having it get wiped, and etc.

Its a neat idea, but having looked at it in the past, I still favor electrical cables.

Err... small amounts of data. You start really trying t transmit data like that and now the dangers you are missing multiply by an order of magnitude.
