Citizen of Atlas - A short story on a visionary future of Atlas City
This story is written by fellow Atlas Initiative Group member, Brad Johnson. Citizen of Atlas is a short story described through the perspective of a journal through one man named Ethan Banes. He is an individual existing with the year 2010 and has been known to be a highly popular Internet fear monger. From his perspective, the world is going to end on December 21st, 2012 and humanity will cease to exist. His fear has gotten nearly out of control that it has cost him his family, his friends and nearly his own sanity. He is at the point of a nervous breakdown when one night he receives a vision. A vision of the future. Something that feels beyond a dream as he remembers every single detail of what he experiences. Every sight, every sound, every smell, every taste, every touch.
In the visions he has, he is present ten years in the future within a place called Atlas City. A place without corruption, without profit and without fear. His journal entries details his experiences as he returns to the city every single night during his dream state and his encounters with the inhabitants, technology and location of the city fill his mind with extraordinary detail as if he is living there in an awoken state. This leads to him becoming a entirely different man that cast asides his fear and brings about a feeling of absolute splendor as he has seen what the future holds. Throughout his experiences, his mindset shifts and he becomes a man of encouragement, positivity and divinity as he shares his encounters through the marvelous encounters with a city of the future: Atlas City.
